Hello! My name is Dr. Nia, and I’ve been a practicing veterinarian for over 20 years. A graduate of Tuskegee University College of Veterinary Medicine, I dreamed of becoming a vet since I was a child growing up in Chicago. I hadn’t been practicing long before I realized that things were not going to go the way I planned them out in my head. I thought I would find my dream job, stay there until I retired, then travel and live out my days in peace.
Well, like many of you, my career has taken many twists and turns, but I have learned so much along the way. Twenty plus years in, and I have finally figured out what else, besides advocating for animals, brings me joy. I want to help veterinarians find their rightful place, whether that’s in the profession or not, so that they can spend the rest of their time enjoying life.
When I’m not doing what I love career wise, you can find me spending time with my college-bound son and family, baking all things sweet, traveling, going to live concerts, and binge watching a good show.
